Today it is traditional to begin a Christmas Novena prayed 15 times every day until Christmas Day to receive special graces. Hail and blessed be the hour and moment In which the Son of God was born Of the most pure Virgin Mary, at midnight, in Bethlehem, in the piercing cold. In that hour vouchsafe, I beseech Thee, O my God, to hear my prayer and grant my desires, [here mention your request] through the merits of Our Savior Jesus Christ, and of His blessed Mother. Amen. Today we begin Advent! It is a season of awaiting the coming of the Lord! Jesus came to us as a little baby to bring us the grace of salvation through the Paschal mystery. We profess that He will come again in Glory at the end of the World with the Final Judgement and will usher in a new creation. And thirdly He comes to each of us personally, here and now. This is our invitation this Advent - to be attentive to His presence with us now and grow in love with Him, so as to be prepared to meet Him face to face and enter into the joy of His Kingdom - when we meet the God who loves us so much!
During this special week of prayer for the dead we remember with love our faithful and holy Chaplain, Fr. Ray Ryland and his beautiful witness of love for Christ.
Fr. Ryland was a man of deep prayer and union with Christ. His joy when celebrating Holy Mass was unmatched. He was truly an inspiring man, and left a beautiful testimony of how his life was touched by God and how he was "Drawn from Shadows into Truth." See more below: |
