Start racking up some plenary indulgences for the poor souls of the faithful departed.

3/28/2017

Sr. Mary Francis shares 4 ways you can obtain a plenary indulgence each day. These are simple ways you can bring relief to the souls suffering in purgatory so that they will enter Heaven sooner. We can all appreciate passing the favor on!

"That is why I cannot be silent – nor would it be good to do so – about such great blessings and such a gift that the Lord so kindly bestowed in the land of my captivity. This is how we can repay such blessings, when our lives change and we come to know God, to praise and bear witness to his great wonders before every nation under heaven." - St. Patrick

The Power of St. Philomena

3/13/2017

In our Irish home there is a lovely picture of St. Philomena. She is a powerful saint who was martyred at the age of fourteen and who was buried in the catacombs and forgotten. It was 17 centuries later that her relics were discovered and moved to a church in Mugnano, Italy where miracles began to happen. She is shown in pictures with an anchor, arrows, lilies and a palm branch.
Today we experienced our own miracle! This morning Mother prayed before the picture of St. Philomena and asked for a sign about whether to expand and "anchor" another convent in Ireland and for another very special intention. Not giving the prayer a second thought, the sisters went for a walk on the beach. The tide was far out and the sisters were able to walk all the way across to another beach, wading through an ankle-high tide where the river empties out into the sea. As Mother was standing among the rocks she spied something buried in the sand among mossy rocks. She bent over and tugged at the top and to her surprise pulled out an anchor! Tell us your thoughts! We believe this is a miracle of St. Philomena who answers prayers. The anchor is the symbol of hope.
St. Philomena you're the best!

A Sign from the Sea

To get a little exercise we sisters took a walk on the beach and found that a large, unlit purple candle had rolled up onto the shore. Is the Lord telling us to light a little fire of faith during this Lent?

Sharing with students on Faith, Ethics and Business

Sr. Mary Augustine gives a presentation on Faith, Ethics and Business for a group of students that got everyone thinking about some interesting case studies. The students shared their own entrepreneur project - marketing these adorable little houses - each with their own theme. Here is St. Patrick's house in Irish.
