Mother Mary Wendy gives a lenten talk, "In Your light, we see light" (Ps 36) to the Secular Franciscans at Holy Rosary.
Each candle represents the light of a soul consecrated to Jesus, consoling Him by the tabernacle.Today is the anniversary when many of the Sisters of the Divine Redeemer first entered the convent to give their lives to Jesus, their Divine Spouse. In remembrance of this, we were blessed to be invited to join with them in a renewal of vows ceremony to pledge anew our love for Jesus. Thank you sisters for your inspiring witness of fidelity!
O give thanks to the Lord of lords,
for his steadfast love endures for ever; to him who by understanding made the heavens, for his steadfast love endures for ever; the sun to rule over the day, for his steadfast love endures for ever; the moon and stars to rule over the night, for his steadfast love endures for ever; (Psalm 136: 3,5,8-9) May you have a blessed day, rejoicing in God's love! "The lady appeared and told me to look for a stream and wash in it and to see that the priests build a chapel there. I must also pray, she said, for the conversion of sinners. I asked her many times what she meant by that, but she only smiled. Finally with outstretched arms and eyes looking up to heaven she told me she was the Immaculate Conception." - Letter of St. Bernadette
Pope Francis has asked us to practice the spiritual and corporal works of mercy this Lent. Consider how you can instruct the ignorant, comfort the sorrorwful or counsel the doubtful by watching a video each week about the Bible and the Virgin Mary (http://www.bibleandthevirginmary.com/streaming) and encouraging your friends or family to likewise. It is that easy to do something beautiful for Lent, that will equip you to be another Christ to your neighbor by sharing the fruits of the compassion and love of Mary, our Mother. Register at the website to get links to the videos. This is a great way to be spiritual fed, while we fast from the things of the world. God bless you this Ash Wednesday!
The St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology run by Scott Hahn is offering a new series on Mary and the Bible for free video streaming beginning this Ash Wednesday. Normally you have to order the study, but the center is posting the lessons for free and they will be up for 2 weeks, before they are taken down and a new one will be added each week. There are 12 lessons.
Mary wants nothing more than to help us grow closer to her Son, so this isa great opportunity to grow closer to God, this Lent! Go to the website to register and you will get emails: (be sure to confirm-it might go into spam) http://www.bibleandthevirginmary.com/streaming/ |
