Commemorating the Moment of Jesus' Death
The fourth form of worshipping the Divine Mercy is recalling Christ's death at 3 pm daily. Jesus tells us, “As often as you hear the clock strike the third hour, immerse yourself completely in My Mercy. (Diary - Divine Mercy in My Soul, 1527) "Implore My mercy, especially for sinners; and if only for a moment, immerse yourself in My Passion." (Diary, 1320) "It was the hour of grace for the whole world - mercy triumphed over justice.” (Diary, 1572) Jesus is offering us a moment of grace every single day at 3 p.m. What does Jesus want us to do at 3 p.m.? He wants us to meditate, even for a brief instant, on His Passion, on the moment of His agony and abandonment on the cross. Jesus encourages us, if possible, to step into a church and pay a visit to the Blessed Sacrament where His Sacred Heart is full of mercy, or to make the Stations of the Cross to better contemplate His love for us offered through His suffering and Passion.
Jesus says that if your duties do not allow you to do this, "immerse yourself in prayer there where you happen to be, if only for a very brief instant”. (Diary, 1572) Jesus is making this so easy. Many people get this confused with the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. But if Jesus asked us to pray the Chaplet at 3 p.m., very few people would be able to do so, because so many of us are at work or school, and it is a busy time of the day. This is why He just wants us to unite ourselves with Him in spirit at the foot of the cross, no matter what we’re doing. We could be driving or jogging or swimming or at a conference. Whatever we’re doing, we can just imagine ourselves at the foot of the cross and pray for mercy. Jesus promises, “In this hour, I will refuse nothing to the soul that makes a request of Me in virtue of My Passion.” (1320)
