Sr. Alfonsa's Creed of Suffering
I believe in suffering as a gift from God.
I believe in its great value, because Jesus has often used it as a sublime act of love and reparation.
I believe in accepting suffering, as a means of salvation and sanctification of oneself and others.
I believe in suffering, perfumed by the incense of prayer, which opens the heavens and consoles the heart of God.
I believe in suffering as a powerful weapon for my apostolate.
I believe in suffering, lived with love to obtain grace.
I believe in suffering, offered with the sufferings of Christ, with a smile on the lips...It has the power to call down graces as the morning dew and to heal the souls of those far and near...
I believe in suffering that challenges the soul to grow in knowledge and light.
I believe in the power of suffering that makes the soul live in continuous humility and abandonment to God.
I believe in suffering that helps me grow in love and self-offering to my God and to my brothers and sisters.
I believe in suffering as a means of detaching myself from earthly things and living in the blessed anticipation of heaven.
I believe in suffering, which makes me live in solidarity with sister death.
I believe in suffering, as a powerful weapon to overcome the many difficulties, conflicts and thorns that life offers, because it makes me think: I will be on the earth for such a short time! Amen! Alleluia!
