Jesus seeks out the sinner
Jesus
says, “I pursue
sinners along all their paths... Tell sinners that I
am always waiting for them, that I listen intently to
the beating of their heart ... when will it beat for
Me? I am speaking to them through their remorse of conscience,
through their failures and sufferings, through thunderstorms,
through the voice of the Church."
(Diary- Divine Mercy in My Soul, 1728) This
is why Our Lord is in a walking position: because He
reminds us of the Father of the Prodigal Son.
Do
you remember that parable of Our Lord? Jesus explains
that the son told his dad, “I want my inheritance
now!” And the father in the story respected his
son’s free will, just as Our Heavenly Father respects
our free will. He gave him his inheritance. The son
left home, wasting the money away on immoral living.

The father, in
his great love, never told his son not to return, that
he never wanted to see him again. On the contrary, he
was searching for his son everyday! It was the
father who spotted the son in the distance returning
home, and he ran out to greet him. He embraced his son
and he kissed him! Because there’s more joy in
heaven over one repentant sinner than over the ninety-nine
who have no need of repentance. (Luke 15:7) Jesus
is searching for us! We are all sinners. He says we
all need His mercy. “I
have opened My Heart as a living fountain of mercy.
Let all souls draw life from it. Let them approach
this sea of mercy with great trust. Sinners will attain
justification and the just will be confirmed in good."
(Diary, 1520)
Jesus is offering His mercy to all. He says,
"On the cross, the fountain of My Mercy
was opened wide by the lance for all souls -- no one
have I excluded!” (Diary,
1182) Jesus in this Divine Mercy image is
showing us that from His pierced Heart, blood and water
gushed out from the cross. When that blood and water
gushed forth, the Catholic Church was born. This is
when heaven was opened for us. This is the moment of
our redemption. Jesus is reminding us of this—that
He shed His precious blood for us, and that He wants
to seek out and save that which was lost.
